Memorial Day 2016

On this strangled memorial day
I visit no tree or forgotten grave
Like I used to do for my mother
And the willow I couldn't save.
But in crevices of fading memories,
Of when I dared to think we were free,
I pry their stones from stars and stripes
With the hope that we soon will be.

Give us STRENGTH, God...to find our way through bullets hidden in microwaves,
and COURAGE, God...to make a STAND that saves our lives and FREEs our land.
