The Heart I Felt

This is the second in a series of three poems I wrote last night and this morning.

The Heart I Felt

I woke and prayed like many a day
For Light and Love to grow and stay
Then passed a dark and tangled fight
Where on a roof perched the night
But then three chickens and the Doves
Dared peak inside to remind me of Love.
And oh! It was there before and after -
A simple ray from Heaven's rafter.
And tears again did fill my eyes
As the sun rose in cloud parted skies.
Perhaps, somehow, all will be alright.

Give us STRENGTH, God...to find our way through bullets hidden in microwaves, and COURAGE, God...to make a STAND that saves our lives and FREEs our land.
